When experiencing the effortless maturity of Alisa Amador firsthand, you’ll be forgiven for thinking she’s been at the forefront of the contemporary singer-songwriter scene for years. In fact, her arrival came after winning the 2022 NPR Tiny Desk Contest, and once again that contest has cast a deserved spotlight on a rising star. Singing in both Spanish and English, weaving captivating narratives with her charming voice and self-possessed presence, Amador’s jazz-tinged, poetic songcraft makes her a worthy modern torchbearer for the likes of Joni Mitchell and Norah Jones.
“Alisa Amador is a pitch-perfect rendition of my wildest dreams.” – Cyrena Touros, NPR All Songs Considered
Alisa Amador is a bilingual singer-songwriter and the winner of the 2022 NPR Tiny Desk Contest. Amador’s music is a synthesis of the many styles she has voraciously absorbed: rock, jazz, funk, and alternative folk, all wrapped in the spirit of the Latin music she grew up with. NPR’s Cyrena Touros calls her “a pitch-perfect rendition of my wildest dreams,” and NPR’s Bob Boilen calls her “a powerful voice whose tender performance commands attention and fosters connection.” Amidor released her debut EP, Narratives, in 2021, and she has spent the last year touring the globe. She has opened for many artists including Hozier, Lake Street Dive, Madison Cunningham, Watchhouse, Hiss Golden Messenger, and countless others. Amidor’s soulful singing, poetically incisive lyrics, and syncopated rhythms are likely to make you cry, laugh, and dance all within one set.
