Laura Frautschi is very successful violinist – and has been since the age of 15! She was recruited by Jorge Mester to be a member of the Pasadena Symphony Orchestra at age 15 and within seven months she was promoted to the first violin section over 14 more experienced artists. Not only is she a graduate of the Julliard School, Frautschi attended Harvard and graduated with a degree in applied mathematics! Frautschi’s varied musicality touches upon both classical and twentieth-century chamber works. Her extensive discography ranges from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons with the Festival Strings Lucerne to works by Bernard Rands, Chen Yi and Margaret Brouwer. If that’s not impressive enough, she has played with many Northeastern Orchestras, including the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, the New York City Opera Orchestra and the New Haven Sympony Orchestra. Caramoor is happy to include our festival as one of her performance locations, as she plays with the Caramoor Virtuosi on June 28 and June 30. And yes, Laura and Jennifer are sisters!
