Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts celebrates American Roots Music with All-Day Festival

 Roseanne Cash for press release

Saturday, June 28

Featuring Grammy®-Award winner Rosanne Cash

Katonah, NY – On Saturday, June 28, Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts presents the American Roots Music Festival. Seeking to stretch the boundaries of traditional music, the festival brings a mix of bluegrass, folk, country and spiritual music to the Caramoor grounds. A full day of fun for the whole family, the festival continues to grow each year and features performances by legendary stars and up & coming artists, bringing a variety of music styles to current and new audiences.

There will be performances and activities all throughout the grounds from noon to 6pm, with music from Bruce Molsky, Tony Trischka & Michael Daves, husband and wife duo Kim & Reggie Harris, Miss Tess & the Talkbacks – who plays in a style reminiscent of saloon jazz, country swing, early rockabilly and New Orleans second line, Joe Crookston & the Bluebird Jubilee with Peter Glanville, Brooklyn-based 5-piece string band Cricket Tell the Weather, festival favorite Spuyten Duyvil, and folk/gospel chorus the Walkabout Clearwater Chorus.

At 7:30pm, up-and-coming three-piece Roots band The Lone Bellow plays a set for the Venetian Theater crowd. The group released their self-titled debut album in January 2013 and has since been taking the American Roots world by storm. Their passionate performances are complete with enveloping three-part harmonies and raw, sincere songwriting.

American Roots Music Festival headliner Rosanne Cash takes the stage at 8:30pm. As the daughter of folk legend Johnny Cash, not only has she been around American Roots music her whole life, but she has also been fully immersed in its evolution through the past few decades. With her husband and musical partner John Leventhal, she will grace the Venetian Theatre audience with works from her new critically-acclaimed album, The River & The Thread.
