Rosen House Connections: The Rosen Family's Manhattan Townhouse

With the summer season quickly coming to a close, we are starting a new occasional feature for Rosen House Mondays called Rosen House Connections. With these posts, we'll be highlighting places, people, and objects beyond Caramoor that relate to the collections, archives, and history here on campus. Maybe you'll be inspired to seek out one of these places or look for a particular object at another site in order to make a Rosen House connection for yourself!
Our first connection is a fun one. The Rosens' family townhouse on West 54th Street is still very easy to spot. The three neighboring townhouses they also owned on this block (Professor Theremin's studio was at #37) have had many more alternations over the years, but 35 West 54th is clearly identifiable. While the building has been divided up into multiple private residences, the decorative ironwork on the building's façade dates to the period of Walter and Lucie's ownership. If you use the 54th Street exit for the Museum of Modern Art right across the street, you can't miss it!
