The Miró Quartet

Katonah, NY – On Sunday, October 27 at 4 p.m. in the Music Room, the acclaimed Miró Quartet will perform an all-Schubert program. The ensemble will begin with Franz Schubert’s unfinished work, String Quartet No. 12 in c, Quartettsatz, showcasing his more mature compositional style. The program continues with String Quartet No. 11 in E and closes with the dramatic and one of the most beloved string quartets, String Quartet No. 14 in d, Death and the Maiden. With nearly twenty years of virtuosic prowess, the Miro Quartet continues to inspire awe in audiences at home and abroad with “explosive vigor and technical finesse” (New York Times) while maintaining a strong dedication to mentoring the next generation of great chamber artists.

About the Miro Quartet
Daniel Ching began playing the violin at the age of 3, and by the age of 5 he attended the San Francisco Conservatory Prepatory Division, where he had a full twelve-year scholarship. There, he studied violin with Zaven Melikian and Serban Rusu. He graduated from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. Currently, he teaches private violin and is a coach for chamber music at the Sarah and Ernest Butler School of Music at the University of Texas at Austin.
William Fedkenheur has toured the United States and performed at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall Presents, San Fransisco Performances and the National Gallery. Mr. Fedkenheur received a Bachelor of Music from Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music. Recently, he served as the first violinist of the Fry Street Quartet.
Violist John Largess began his studies in Boston at age 12 in the public schools, studying with Michael Zaretsky of the Boston Symphony, and later as a student of Michael Tree at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. In 1995, he graduated from Yale University and joined the Colorado String Quartet as interim violist. He joined the Miró Quartet in 1997.
Cellist Joshua Gindele, a founding member of the Miró Quartet, began his cello studies at the age of 3. As cellist for the Miró, Joshua has won numerous international awards including an Avery Fisher Career Grant, the Naumburg Chamber Music Award and the Cleveland Quartet Award and has shared the stage with Pinchas Zuckerman, Joshua Bell, Midori, Matt Haimovitz, Eliot Fisk, Leif Ove Andnes, and The Oak Ridge Boys. He continues to perform across four continents and on some of the world’s most prestigious concert stages.

Caramoor is a performing arts center located on a unique 90-acre setting of Italianate architecture and gardens in Westchester County, NY. It enriches the lives of its audiences through innovative and diverse musical performances of the highest quality. Its mission also includes mentoring young professional musicians and providing educational programs for young children centered around music. All Fall/Winter/Spring concerts take place in Caramoor’s 220 seat Music Room located in its historic Rosen House.

By car from the West Side of Manhattan and New Jersey, take the Saw Mill River Parkway north to Katonah. Exit at Route 35/Cross River. Turn right and, at the first traffic light, make a right turn onto Route 22 south. Travel 1.9 miles to the junction of Girdle Ridge Road. Follow the signs to Caramoor. By train, take the Harlem Division of the Metro-North Railroad to Katonah, New York. Taxi service from the station to Caramoor (5 minutes away) is available.
